I’m currently working as a Teaching Fellow at The University of Birmingham, and recently submitted my PhD thesis, which focuses on the discursive construction of motherhood through digital interaction.

My current research interests include gender, language and sexuality, digital interaction, online privacy and discourse analysis.

I’m a mum of two pretty awesome children. Unfortunately this blog isn’t really about them, though I’m sure they’ll crop up now and again… kids do have a way of permeating all aspects of your life. I did choose ‘Mumsnet’ as my online community of choice, after all.

I created this blog to keep me in the habit of writing regularly, and to document what I’ve been up to. I’ll be writing about my thoughts, progress and experiences as a doctoral researcher. Thanks for reading.

So nice to see an English teacher doing this work; you do get good grammar and punctuation.
